Started of day with usual schedule - playtime and TV/breakfast - then done with play "head to school".
Opened with 2nd grade Math - as it seems to be most straightforward - ha.. So I thought. VS was losing interest and I patience with finding what to do where to start- seems way to simple - so I looked around LMS website for more info but really it was that simple. Duh.
9am Setup at desk with AAO
45 minutes follow lessons and/or vidoes online for teaching - poking around website too
changed seating to couch - for more comfortable seating to do online activities
20 minutes took a sensory break on steamrollar and snack
45 minutes attend Live Lesson with teacher and other students
45 minutes Skills for Sucess (SKS) pretest for Math - in game mode.VS chose Football...answer a topic-related question, after each correct answer, VS gets to "play" game -acheived 90% on 10 questions, which happens to also be the minimum number of questions for assessment.
20 minutes Skills for Sucess (SKS) pretest for Reading - in game mode. VS chose Bowling...answer qs on paragraph topic - one on Africa and another on a playdate by two cousins. 90% on 10 questions.
In the reading lesson, VS struggled with interpretation of paragraphs - when considering abstract idea. So one qs was about Africa and type of story- he needed extra guidance on difference between B) a Story c) non fiction; so I explained story is series of events usually with begining middle and end - Does this paragraph have B-M-E?
I need to try keep better notes about VS questions - as it's only going to be more challenging as we progress grades.
**OOPS for got to do the online tests/assessments for Math lessons. He's mentally done for now...maybe later in evening.
50 minutes Lunch break @ 12 noon today
Organzie for activity during VSS (virtual student's sibling)Kinder evaluation this afternoon.
VS did 2 pages of enVision math workbook
*Stopped by previous pre-school to say hello - kids have grown and one person remarked how mature VS is compared to previous visit about a year ago. {Thanks to modified diet and right support structure!} Shared about "school at home" - sending information along for future awareness; and Caribou for coffee treat ever curious VS wanted to experience cappucino. YUM!
* VS completed 2 more enVision worksheets for Unit 1: Addition
Finished school day 3:30pm
We did not get as much done in one day as I expected. But early confusion made start and stop less efficient for time management and fatigue. I think once we get "into the groove", through repitition, I'll better manage VS. The Daily Planner is easy to update; reminder of attendance, lesson to be completed and needing to be approved by LC is VERY helpful in the "anniversary" stage. Sure hope it passes soon - though!
Also, we were contacted by a rehab therapist who will be coming out weekly to provide occupational services. So I'll have to remember to add updates on that progress as well.
