Week 2 Day 2

Wed: Caught up on overdue lessons - mainly review of math topic (from last year?) in addition to completeing lessons for Soical studies and repsective assessments.
But VS noticed that Skills for Sucess was "overdue" and well couldn't let that happen~ the horror! Have I mentioned VS likes this because it's video games that are challenging. Quick study has done SKS 3 times now (math and reading last week, then math today) figured out how to score a STRIKE in bowling game. Last week was mostly gutter balls.

Met also with intake person for a local facility that focuses on Social Skills class [leave a comment if you want contact info]. She agreed with history and presence that VS would benefit from additional social skills then we can move on later to a self-control -our current stress is VS agression toward VSS. Not positive sibling rivalry or interaction. Plain ol' fear.

....on that topic~ since starting CA and going at VS pace and interest ~ we've had ONE emotional confrontation. Over . VERY significnat development as nothing else has changed.

Today was a day I wish I could've recorded and narrated to show VS challenges.

* awoke at 7:45am after going to bed by 8:30 last night
* disoriented because I was not upstairs like usual when awake
* requested 3 times for socks, orthotics and shoes to be "donned" or put on to take VSS to school
* reminder to use the BR and drink water - food went in usual lightening speed
* refused to share toy with VSS but then offered without asking for something in return **very odd**
* Spacey - except for Skills for Success - hard to focus on new material so I didn't try
* trouble deciding snacks and sensory activity - very unusual as VS follows a predictable almost rigid routine
of preferred activities so I have to encourage diversity; today he was only interested in indoor swing.
* walking into solid objects or losing track of task at hand, repeatedly
* sometimes memory difficulty presents as well as horrid motor planning - dyspraxia - so what VS learned last week might as well not have been presented at all or clear straight lines turn to unsteady scramble of backward letters or numbers
* sometimes a viral illness will also bring on these same observed symptoms

These days demonstrate a major benefit of school AT home ~ I would have not sent VS into B&M school ~ instead I can choose a lesson of interest and keep progress forward moving.

These days are direct result from too much physical activity in a given period - in this case the weekend in rural community with family and obviously no limitation of activity.

These days we would predictably see wide mood swings and agression ~ we;ll see if next days bring event.

These days harm VS health in the long run, big picture. VS will recover, be back to baseline in a day or two.

But unknown how much is too much or when a bigger "metabolic crash" will happen. Prevention and proactive health is key.
